THE NEW FACES OF JOHNSON PRODUCTS ARE UNVEILED AT “THE GREAT MODEL SEARCH” IN LOS ANGELES
Historic Black-Owned Hair Care Company Makes Come Back On June 12 With Finale Of Its National Model Search.
NEW YORK, NY – June 8, 2010: Johnson Products Company, Inc. (JPC) is mounting a Hollywood-style grand finale for “The Great Model Search” (TGMS) set for Saturday,
June 12, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. at the beautiful and historic El Rey Theater in Los Angeles, California. This final stage of JPC’s national competition will showcase the modeling talents of the final 8 contestants all vying to be the next new faces of JPC. Celebrity judges for the beauty and fashion extravaganza include actors, Wendy Raquel Robinson (The Game), Rockmond Dunbar (Soul Food) and radio legend, Lee Bailey (EUR). KJLH radio personality, Kevin Nash, will be the Master of Ceremonies and there will be a special performance by up-n-coming rapper, Mann. The highlight of the night will be the special tribute presented by the new JPC owners, Eric and Renee Brown, to JPC Founder, George E. Johnson, Sr.
“We realize these young hopefuls are not professional models and they may not
have runway experience,“ explains Renee Brown, Executive VP of Marketing for
JPC. “But who wouldn’t jump at the chance for international exposure, a modeling contract, $5,000 cash, a makeover and a free trip for two to Los Angeles? They will be modeling evening gowns and other fashions on stage in front of hundreds of adoring fans for a fun-filled night where there are no real losers.”
JPC launched TGMS on February 1, 2010 and over 1200 contestants uploaded their photos on the TGMS website with the hopes of being the next new faces that grace the JPC packaging and marketing materials. Many contestants launched their own Internet and radio campaigns to get friends and family to vote them into the first round where the top 48 contestants were chosen from a public vote.
Next, JPC officials picked the 16 semi-finalists and of that 16, 8 final contestants are being flown to Los Angeles for an all expenses paid trip that will include a tour of Hollywood, participating in a photo shoot and walking the red carpet with celebrities at the El Rey Theater.
TGMS has provided a marketing launch-pad for the “new” JPC which was recently bought back from Procter & Gamble by Eric and Renee Brown on March 31, 2009. This husband and wife management team has extensive experience in the hair care arena with the Pro-Line Corporation founded by Renee Brown’s father, Comer Cottrell. To celebrate JPC being “back to black” ownership, TGMS will have at its centerpiece a special in-person tribute to George E. Johnson, who founded the company in 1954. The special recognition will include a video honoring JPC history, which ignited the $9 billion dollar ethnic hair care industry.
