Johnson Products Company Celebrates National Domestic Violence Awareness Month with
3rd Annual No Excuse! Stop the ABUSE!TM Initiative
National Movement Promotes the Importance of Genuine and Gentle Treatment to Women of Color.

New York, NY – July 19, 2011: Johnson Products Company, Inc. (JPC), broadens its national No Excuse! Stop the Abuse!™ initiative today in support of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.  For a third year in a row, JPC will use its signature brand, Gentle Treatment,® to increase awareness of the issue of domestic abuse of women of color as well as to empower women to use their voice to take a stand against this type of treatment.  The No Excuse! Stop the Abuse!™ initiative consists of JPC’s support of women’s shelters and foundations with multi-year grants, customized events and the national distribution of 75,000 Gentle Treatment® No Excuse! Stop the Abuse!™ purple bracelets inside specially marked relaxer kits.  With every purchase of a Gentle Treatment® No-Lye Conditioning Crème Relaxer kit, JPC will donate $1 to benefit shelters and foundations that serve, save and improve the lives of domestic abuse victims. The company will also launch on its special Website a national campaign to highlight Gentle Treatment® “Sheroes,” who are everyday women who have used their voice to stand up against domestic violence.

According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, 81% of women stalked by a current or former intimate partner are also physically assaulted by that partner. “Sometimes the first step in seeking help is confiding in a trusted friend or family member that you are a victim of domestic abuse,” states Renee Brown, JPC executive vice president of sales and marketing. “Knowing that someone is there to support you when you decide to leave your abuser can give you the courage you need to start a new life. Johnson Products Company’s No Excuse! Stop the Abuse!™ campaign and Website are resources for women as well as for family members to get educated and empowered to use their voice regarding this issue.”

The third annual No Excuse! Stop the Abuse!™ initiative kicks off with the launch of the customized Gentle Treatment® Website that will also launch the “SHEROS” campaign.

In an effort to recognize everyday women who have used their voice to stand up against domestic violence, each week during the month of October, JPC will feature the Gentle Treatment® “Shero of the Week” and will continue to share stories of other Sheroes on a monthly basis.

Select SHERO winners will be given an all-expense paid trip to Washington DC.  The Website also features helpful information on domestic abuse with links to resources on how to get help as well as highlights President Obama’s national 2009 proclamation of October as National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
